This is our last painting made on the road in South America. The title of this painting is ‘fear not’, or in different words ‘have faith’.

Travelling for a long time gives us a different perspective on life. It sometimes even feels like we live in a different reality with different rules. This painting is about this reality.

Looking with this outsiders perspective it seems like in modern day society we do not accept risks anymore, security has become one of the most important values. We want to insure, control and calculate almost everything. We fear different things but maybe most off all that we will have less tomorrow (money, health, status, you name it). This way we spend a lot of time worrying about the future.

While travelling we rediscovered a different world, a more natural world. A world were things grow but also die, a circular world were things come and go like the seasons. A reality where we can trust that tomorrow will provide for tomorrow. This is what we experienced again and again while travelling, life provides in what we need.

To speak with Daniel Quinn’s Ishmael:

“The world doesn’t belong to men, men belong to the world.” …. “Have no care for tomorrow, look at the birds of the air, they neither sow, nor reap, nor plough the earth, but life takes care of them.”

This painting is about faith. Put your sails up high and sail. Fear not!

Have faith and trust in life (love)!
