COLOMBIA – Almost 3 months we’re living in Palomino. A little village on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. Beautiful located between two rivers, on the foot of the sierra Nevada. Off course we are also familiar with the more negative image that Colombia has and it’s past of cocaine and guerrillas. ECUADOR – One year ago we celebrated our son Moos his first birthday and the day after we started our journey. We shipped our house on wheels to South America and we started our live on the road. PERU – In Bolivia you have the so called ‘death-road’. It is famous for it’s narrowness and deep drops. We didn’t drive this particular road because nowadays it is a tourist attraction (they build another road around it) and also we just didn’t want to go that direction. But in the rest of Bolivia and Peru you have enough other roads that we think can compete with the death-road in dangerousness. We kind off accidentally found ourselves in the middle of a road like that of 400km long! Before we realized it was this long we where already one day underway, it took us another three days to finish it. And these where full days of driving, one hairpin after the other and deep-drops and blind-curves for 400km’s! It was a really beautiful road but also a little bit too much this time. About halfway we got pretty sick of it, we only could think of driving on tarmac again, double lanes and without giant stones on the middle of the road. Continue Reading

BOLIVIA/PERU – We where really looking forward for Myrthe (Lai’s sister) to arrive in Bolivia and travel with us! Finally she was there! We picked her up in the colorful city Sucre and now she was ours for three weeks 🙂 We planned a spectacular road trip with her of 2000 kilometers trough Bolivia and Peru. It is going to be busy but with a lot of highlights! 2000 kilometers may not sound that much, but roads can be really slow here and most of the time we will be between 3000 and 4000 meter, what makes it really challenging. BOLIVIA – We made a few different plans where and when to enter Bolivia. But after spending a long time in the high mountain of northern Argentina (which are really cold at night, brrrrr) we decide to enter Bolivia in the east, the more tropical part of the country.
